With our treadmill getting kicked to the curb due to lightening power failure I decided to check out the local Nautilus gym. They advertise a great $10/mo fee, buuuut after a little inquiry this morning I found out it's actually $40 for the 1st two months and THEN it's only $10/mo. Well, $10 was tempting but that's just about the same as a full year's membership at previous gym's I've been to. And with my only purpose at this time being to walk/run...I just couldn't do it.
So off to the road (and all of it's inconsistencies)! This app starts you off with a 5 min brisk walk and then tells you to run for a minute, with a minute and a half walk, repeating for 8 times total. It was a good little 30 minute exercise.
I was disappointed when I found out my iPhone doesn't support multitasking so I couldn't listen to my music and the encouraging, British accented lady tell me when to start running and when to walk briskly. So no music for me.
The encouraging part...when she says "You only have 30 seconds left to walk" and "Get ready to run in 10 seconds" was a little much - at least, I thought...at first. But by the time my 6th run came along I was very thankful to know how much time I still had to run, which helped motivate me to keep going!
Get Running schedules your runs so that if you start on a Friday, like I did, your next run is scheduled 2 days later (on Sunday). But, if you miss a day it recalculates the rest of your running days, always giving you a day off in between.
The app is set up to have you running 5k by the end of 9 weeks, if you stay on schedule every single day. But, like I said earlier, if you miss a day - no worries. Just keep running. It will recalculate your days of running and days of rest. This is not exactly what I'd say is MY goal, but if I happen to get there - cool!
The only thing I have to figure out now is how to deal with all of the wind we get out here and the cold weather. This morning was not too bad but I prefer it to be just a bit less chilly to run.
I hope I can stay motivated and keep up with it! Wish me luck! And try this app. I'm sure you'll like it!
Heather

This sounds like the app Jeremy is using!
