He is such a great "character". Once I pointed out a little boy staring at him, he began waving at all the kids he could see. It was so much fun to see the smiles on everyone's faces, kids and adults alike. A few people asked how the costume was made, but most people gave unsolicited comments, such as, "That's too cool!", from one man as we were walking into the mall.
Above is the entrance to the store from the waiting room. After paying for a ticket, we waited in this room to see Professor Brick-a-Brack and how LEGO bricks are made. That part I thought was quite cheesy but it didn't to seem to bother my 'older' Lego fan. I think he was still just enjoying the attention from our walk through the mall!
Below is a Lego cement truck, with a drum that literally turns. It is about 3 feet tall and really cool in person.
These buildings actually lit up. I wish I had stopped to take a closer look at how they did that.
While here, building his own car to race, one mom and her son stopped to ask if he could have his picture taken with Colton (Lego Buddy). He shook "hands" with lots of kids.
I keep wondering when he thinks he will be too old for this stuff, but honestly, I don't think he will ever outgrow it. In fact, I can totally see him becoming a Lego Master Builder one day. Just look at the happiness on that face!
And what boy doesn't love to race?
Only trouble was, I had to keep trying to juggle my purse, his treat basket, the camera and pick up his newly built car after racing it down this ramp several times because he couldn't bend down far enough in his boxed body to pick it up.
Of course, we HAD to enter him into the costume contest. This is where he received his brick treat - a two faced pumpkin. It fit perfectly in his Lego hand!
MiniLand
Zombies covered the city!
Kingdom Quest is a ride a lot like the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney, where you have a gun at your seat to shoot at things. Colton opted not to try it, though. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to sit in the seat, but it looked like fun.
Overall, I'd say if your child is the same age as Colton you might want to skip this attraction unless you have as big of a Lego fan as I do. It really accommodates the younger kiddos more. We had a great time, though, and Colton has thanked me and told me what a good job I did on his costume SEVERAL times.
He's a pretty grateful kid, but this was way more than usual.
By the way, I chose not to purchase our tickets online prior to going (as suggested) because I had a coupon from his Lego Club Magazine for "buy adult ticket, get child ticket free". (Can we say "cheap"!?) I don't know if it was because of Halloween weekend but there was absolutely NO line to get in. We got there at 11:00am on Saturday, so maybe that contributed to the short line also. Were we lucky? Or was it a freak weekend? I guess we'll find out if we ever go again!
Oh, my goodness, Heather! Amazing job!
