My New "Go To"

Most who know me very well at all know I try to eat healthfully, most of the time anyway.  I have a confession though.  This past winter was a time of indulgence for me.  I really enjoyed my warm cappuccino drinks at night.  Sometimes almost every night for a week, plus one or two mornings.

This was just the beginning of my sweet tooth.  There were constantly desserts at my side here at the house as well as out and about.  It's a wonder how I didn't gain more flab than I have, especially considering exercise was as void as much as the desserts were present.  But I am happy to report I have put the sugar rush away and pulled out my exercise shorts.  (Well, still working on keeping the sugar away.  That's a hard habit to break.)  One good thing about exercising is it makes resisting tempting food easier since you don't want to sabotage the work you've put into your body.

When I'm on this kick of (re)educating myself on healthy eating and exercising I feel like a kid who soaks up the abc's.  I love finding more and more to energize me to keep doing well, with more ease and with less pinch on the pocketbook and my time.  This past week or two I have really soaked up some great info and would like to share it!

My new "Go To"?....Prevention Magazine.

The cost is $2.59 at the store, or order here for only 99 cents per issues.  They are also online and on Facebook too.  I really like getting all their ideas and tips right to my News Feed.

This week I followed the June issue of "The Triple-Threat Total Toning Workout" on pages 126-133, which claims to cause you to lose up to 14 1/2 pounds and 11 inches in 4 weeks.  This is one of the simplest workouts I have seen, yet I am definitely feeling it after just a few workouts.  "Each week consists of 2 strength workouts and 2 unique interval workouts.  All the workouts are quick and maximize calorie burn - for up to 14 hours afterward - so you'll see fast results."

I am going with my DS to a water park in two weeks (1 week now!) so am hoping I will see at least a fourth of this claim come true. This exercise plan calls for resting every other day - and boy did my muscles need it!  I have to remind myself that it takes my body some time to get used to the activity (after NO activity) and will need more rest than usual.  This is the hard part for me to keep going.  I fight tiredness anyway, so to be more tired is frustrating.  I know if I keep going, though, that I will eventually get over that hump and have MORE energy than before and feel better.  I already do feel better, so that's encouraging!

If you, too, have waited so late in the year to begin your exercise routine to shape up for the summer, then I'd like to encourage you to get one more magazine this month.  Page 18 in the May 23rd issue of Womans World gives simple, cellulite-fighting menus (from Dr. Oz) which will boost your workout efforts. (By the way, I love watching his shows too.  You can find show times here for your area.  He gives great visuals and tips for a healthy life.)

What are your "Go To" resources?
Are you starting a workout routine or trying to eat healthier?  What are you doing?

Have a healthy day!

  1. I really wish I liked to exercise. I do it anyway but I always feel like it's a chore. I just wished I enjoyed it! I don't have any go to's but my motivation is definitely that I feel better, look better (at least I think), and have more energy.
