Fun Filled Friday!

Colton attended Robotics Camp this week which ended with "Show Off Day" today.
This was an expensive camp for us, so when he woke with a stuffy nose on Sunday I was determined to do whatever to get rid of it.  He was miserable.  Just as we were about to drive up to the hotel where the camp was being held he said, "I really don't feel like going."  Great, I thought.  I'm making my son do something fun.  Just then we began pulling into the parking lot and he perked up, saying, "It's at a La Quinta?"  I could tell that made it a little better in his mind.
You see, we used to stay at La Quinta's most anytime we were on vacation.  We found it to be cost effective, clean and friendly, and Colton found the make-yourself-waffles a fun way to start the day. So the hotel probably brings good memories for him...plus it's fun to say. La Qeentah!
So I arrived at the scheduled time to find him battling against other competitors.  They have different obstacle courses and battles, such as one in which you try not to get your robot knocked over more than 3 times or you're out.  They had these competitions throughout the week with each robot they built.  Colton got first place today!

His instructor said Colton seemed to enjoy following the instructions for each robot, then making modifications to make it his own.

By the way, he did begin feeling better throughout the week and had a great time!  And, thanks to Nana & Pawpaw, he was able to bring home his robot kit as an early birthday present!

Afterward, cousins joined us for some swimming.

Seth jumped...I don't know how many times!

But mostly he followed big cousin Austin.  Unfortunately, this is the best one I got of him - yes, my shutter is slightly stuck open. (Yet another reason for Neal to buy me a new camera - right?)  He looks like he's about to take off flying!
Caleb mostly enjoyed the first step, but eventually got down to the second one without anyone around.  Way to go Caleb!

 ...and shooting the water gun!

Water Fight!

I do believe Colton was the instigator in this water fight with his two-coned shark swim.

Battling the "aunts".

Austin with his trusty guns.

I'm not sure how I got this next one, but Aunt Courtney had just thrown one of the cones (the purple one in mid-air) because Colton was like a little shark slowly sneaking up to snag them.

Such a great day!
