a fun summer day
This past week has kept most of my attention on one of our rent houses which is in the middle of a remodel, so when Colton came to me this morning with a glum face and request to do something fun I knew I needed to refocus my attention, to him. Do you find it hard to make time for your kids, even though you want to give them all you have? I do, and I've been trying to find a better balance between work (i.e. responsibilities) and time with him (i.e. fun!).
So, after a couple of suggestions which just didn't make the cut, I remembered I had recently promised to take him to the theater to see Mr. Popper's Penguins. A great choice for a hot summer day! It was such a cute and funny movie. Finally, a family friendly movie worth watching without all the extra nonsense to get great reviews! Colton recalls the part when the penguin fills up the bathroom with water and....well, I won't give it away...as one of the funniest scenes. Click here to see Plugged-In Online's movie review.
After a stroll next door to the bookstore, and purchasing the entire novel, Chronicles of Narnia (it's cheaper than the individual chronicles), and a couple other errands we ate at Colton's choice of restaurants - "French Fries" as he used to call it.

The cherry on top of this grand day was when Daddy came home to announce they were going to play basketball. The perfect ending to a fun summer day!
Glad y'all could take a break and enjoy some time together! I totally struggle with that balance. I am pretty driven and I like to get things done. I have to make a mental shift when I'm busy on something.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that movie is good! Can't wait to see it with the kids!
